Photographer Bob Jacquin asked me to create a book design that showcases the estate of a wealthy local philanthropist. The property covers a vast area in the rolling hills of central Missouri and is managed by a team of landscapers, caretakers and carpenters. The owner of the Reserve frequently opens the grounds to scout troops, Boys & Girls Clubs, orphanages and other nonprofit organizations. For people who visit the Reserve, this book is intended to be given as a reminder of their stay.
Some of the houses on the property were designed by world-class architects, the bold lines of the modern houses providing a complementary contrast to the natural surroundings. There are also farmers who work the land, growing corn, soybeans and vegetables for both the surrounding communities and the estate.
The book cover utilizes soft-touch coating with dimensional gloss varnish for the text to keep the focus on the photos. Architectural elements are graphically represented on the back cover to honor the modern architecture found around the estate.
