This fun card combined shooting groups of people as well as food photography — with a dash of pre-planning, a pinch of 3D modeling, and topped off with some retouching to taste. The theme was simple: Brighton employees were assigned groups which then voted on a favorite holiday recipe. Next, the groups had to develop a theme related to the recipe. I helped create the sets for each shoot, followed by styling the prepared dishes for the food photography.
The print mechanicals were straightforward: six 8.5″ × 5.5″ two-sided postcards plus a cover and back cover. However, like all Brighton Holiday cards, there was a lot more going on behind the scenes. The most complex theme was the “12 Dates of Christmas” recipe, where the team wanted to be set in a giant calendar leading up to Christmas. Each person’s calendar square was photographed individually with the intention of portraying them interacting with others in the final piece. After initial photography, I built a grid in Cinema 4D, utilizing UV objects to reflect the people in rendered gold numbers. Final compositing in Photoshop brought it all together.
